More about this fundraiser

You can help us support a Raleigh landmark! As you know, movie theatres and other event venues are among the hardest hit during the pandemic. Archetype is donating 50% of the proceeds from Tom's original artwork to raise funds for the historic Rialto Theatre in Five Points.

When you purchase one of Tom’s woodblock paintings of the Rialto (pictured) using this Etsy link Archetype will donate 50% of the proceeds to the theatre to help with upkeep and planned improvements. Provide your address on the PayPal page, and we’ll hand-deliver the art to you if you’re local (but we promise to stay 6’ away!). Or, we can ship it to you.

The sample painting of the theatre has “We’ll Be Back” on the marquee, but you can choose the phrase or movie title of your choice, such as Casablanca or another “Best Picture” winner. We’ll be putting Emma on our own copy, because we saw this film at the Rialto in 1996 while on our first date.

You’ll note the vertical marquee in the painting features “RIALTO,” as the owner hopes to restore it to its former glory with the theatre name in lights. The lights would be environmentally friendly LEDs that can change color to celebrate holiday events. Other possible upgrades include refreshing the existing marquee and remodeling the bar area in a similar fashion to the concession side.

Proudly serving the community since 1942, the Rialto is locally owned and operated. The theatre remains closed until the Governor gives them permission to re-open. You can, however, pick up fresh, delicious Rialto popcorn on Fridays and Saturdays between 4 pm and 7 pm. Click here for details regarding placing your order.

Thank you for helping us support the local businesses that add so much to the unique character of our city and keep our local economy strong!
