September is Suicide Prevention Month

September is Suicide Prevention Month. According to NCDHHS, suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth in North Carolina ages 10 to 18. If you or someone you care about needs help, call 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Tom and I had the honor of providing graphic design and editing services for Shining the Light, a publication of the 2020 findings of Wake County focus groups on the prevention of youth suicide. Shelia Reich, formerly the Executive Director of Youth Thrive, directed the project, which was supported through a grant funded by the John Rex Endowment. Shining the Light offers many key takeaways that remain relevant post-Covid. The insights offered by youth, parents, and other community members are enlightening and energizing.
