The mission of the Hope Center at Pullen is to connect young people aging out of foster care in Wake County with the resources and support they need for a successful transition to adulthood. Since 2012, the staff has increased the number of people they serve by 90%—and their programs are working. To cite one example, nationally 24% of young people with a history of foster care experience incarceration, compared to 2% of Hope Center participants. Program participants benefit in multiple areas: employment, housing, life skills, support network, mental health, physical health, financial management, and education.
